Burger King is a practical fast-food option in Poland and one I return to more often than most. Beef is less central to everyday eating here than it is in many Anglo countries, where butcher counters commonly offer a wide range of cuts such as brisket, picanha, tri-tip and chuck. In Poland, pork tends to be more dominant, so a straightforward beef burger outside a full-service restaurant is not always as common.

For quick and inexpensive food, Burger King works well. It suits the times when a full sit-down meal is unnecessary and the pricing adds to its appeal. It is often noticeably cheaper than in many Western cities, sometimes by half or more and regular coupons and promotional offers make it an even more accessible option.

The overall standard is also better than I have come to expect from fast food in some Western cities. I stopped going to Burger King in London years ago after a particularly poor experience, but that has not been the case in Poland. Here, the food feels more consistent and better prepared.

One practical advantage is breakfast, which is not always available in Burger King branches in the UK or Australia. In Poland, the breakfast menu is a useful addition. For a coffee and a hot meal at a modest price, it is a simple but reliable choice.
